Twisted Annual Affari (Second Meeting)

Image
On Saturday 31st March our How To Look Good Twisted Facebook group met in Manchester, Piccadilly for the second meeting of our twisties. It was all rather hectic, I started my journey with my friend James Fooks from Spain on Thursday 29th March. I was very anxious, nervous and excited for many reasons really, the main one being Chris was not beside me for support which I have always leant on heavily, and if it wasn't for him (who sadly died 11 April 2011) the group would never have been formed. Secondly, I was about to meet one of the moderators; Laurie Knutowski Skusevich , who had left the previous day to start her journey from the USA across the pond to the UK. I was extremely touched by the reason Laurie decided to join us and travel 4,000 miles! Laurie had told me that one night on her way home from work she had paid particular attention to the moon and Chris came into her thoughts. She had never been to the UK before and felt that due to the sudden death of Chris she...

Find a Cure for Scoliosis

Image
Today we started a cause on Facebook to help raise the awareness of Scoliosis around the globe while raising money for the Scoliosis Research Society at the same time. Please help drive our cause, share our link with your friends and spread the word, our aim is to raise $1,000 by the end of September this year. All of our readers know how Scoliosis makes us feel and wouldn't it be lovely to know where our Scoliosis came from and change us from being "unknown" to categorised with a meaning behind the disease? Thanks for your continued support with the scoliosis blog, website and support group.

Scoliosis Petition

A young lady on my group has started a petition. She is called Emma and has just under gone her correctional surgery for Scoliosis. Sign our Scoliosis Petition. Help to bring Scoliosis screening into schools. Emma’s petition is to help raise awareness about scoliosis and the need for testing in schools. To test a child for scoliosis will take less than a minute. If scoliosis is caught early enough, surgery as well as years of anguish and pain may be avoided. For many, all that is needed is a simple brace worn under clothing to help prevent the spine from twisting. Learn more about Emma and her Scoliosis story. Emma had surgery in March of this year and is now going through her recovery stage and is doing very well. Since discovering Scoliosis Emma wanted to start a petition to bring Scoliosis awareness to the forefront of people's minds, in an attempt to bring screening into schools across the UK. When my Scoliosis was diagnosed, it was first noticed in a school examination and th...
