"Please tell us your life story in 82 syllables or less"

Another bad back week; for some reason the last month has been a bit more rough than its predecessors. My theories are as follows: 1) The stress from school ending, work getting hectic, and my cat nearly croaking has caused some sort of strange pain increase that doesn't really make sense but hey, who am I to argue? Or 2) Aliens have begun to carefully harvest the muscles in and around my back during the night in order to create a duplicate of me on Mars so they may cultivate a new humanity with myself as the almighty and benevolent ruler. I'm thinking it must be one but secretly I'm rooting for two. Of course, with my pain fluctuating so much recently my mom and I have begun to once again wonder where the heck our appointment for the pain clinic in Calgary is? I received the paper work for it way back in January and sent it in fairly promptly. When I called last month the obligatory irate secretary sounded completely miffed that I'd have the nerve to assume that thre...

Scoliosis: South Africa

Hola Everyone We have another request. A lady has just joined our Scoliosis Support Group who is resident in South Africa. She is fused from T1 to L4 with a Harrington Rod (we are assuming this because she has flatback) and now has flatback issues, she is now very scared and in desperate need of a Dr in South Africa for Scoliosis, it is apparent that she now requires revision surgery but needs a Dr in South Africa that could help her, we are now appealing for this information. She has a name of a Doctor in Cape Town who has done only 15-20 operations for Scoliosis revision but would like to link up with people that have seen this Doctor so she may learn more and ask questions, or she would like to hear from other Scoliosis specialists out there that may be able to help. Thanks in advance to our readers and hope we can come together and help this lady find someone she can trust.

Looking for a Dr

I had a lady call me this morning who is in Hull, UK. She has an 8 year old daughter who has lumbar scoliosis, however, her GP will not refer her to a specialist as the GP does not agree that her daughter can be in pain, nor will she prescribe pain killers. The woman who called me was clearly distraught and in her words said “I am ready to kill someone”. Her daughter is having hydrotherapy but this is not working and renders the little girl in pain for the rest of the day – this is like a broken record for UK GPs, they don’t listen and think they know best – they are NOT always right and it disgusts me that a GP can let a child of that age suffer. If there is a member here from up North, please get in touch if you can recommend a Scoliosis specialist in your area – the lady is prepared to travel so if she cannot go closer to home she will go down south and see someone there. Thanks for any help that can be offered :)
